I am hoping for some help with my grandmothers adoption. Her adopted maiden name was Barbara K. Embery, (do not know what the K. was) and she was supposedly born on Jan. 16, 1920 and adopted by Harry and Etta Embery. They raised Barbara in San Diego, California, but I have heard through our family that she was born and adopted in New Mexico. I do not have the birth mother or fathers names. I do not know if this was a private adoption or if Barbara was in an orphanage. We really want to put this piece of the puzzle to rest once and for all.
