Visiting - Mr. M. Pruitt of Lowndes Co., AL is a guest of Dr. Monroe. Mr. Pruitt is an old Confederate veteran having lost an arm at the same time and place that Stonewall Jackson was killed.
Note: General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson led his men in the Battle of Chancellorsville and after returning from the battlefield, he was accidentally shot by one of his own men. Jackson’s left arm was successfully amputated but he developed pneumonia and died at Guinea Station on May 10, 1863.
