I'm interested in the prehistory of the various related families who settled in Pocahontas AR in the 1820's and 30's. Several of them were my ancestors, and I know a lot about them and their parents, but not about their background or who they really were. They all seem to have been associated as a group for several generations, in VA and NC, before getting to AR. Most of their names also show up on the Dawes Rolls. I've been told that the whole area of Randolph County was a known area of Melungeon settlement. Can anyone confirm this, or tell me more?
