Doing the Easter weekend my son and his family took us to Egypt Mississippi, to see the place where there grandparents lived in 1880. Grandpa William Drake was born there in 1870,
William was listed as (Willie) age 10. I found the family in the 1880 census. I was so excited I was going to take a picture of the Egypt Water Tower, to put in our history notes, but alas we found no water tower. (every little town as a water tower) don't they.
Never the less I was not happy. Did we not go far enought, were we looking in the right place. I saw the water tower for Okolona, but not Egypt. We eventually found out on the net that Egypt was a train stop. Was Egypt really a town in the late 1800. Any infomation any one could give me would me appreciated. I am the family historian. Thanks for any info.
