I know that a Moses and Hannah Soper both of Berkshire, had 3 daughters in Padworth Berkshire. The first in 1813, second in 1814, and third in 1818. What I don’t understand is the fact that I can’t find a marriage record for them anywhere in the south of England that match the dates. Eventually I just searched all Counties in ever website I had access to, name variations, wildcards etc. The only marriage record I could find was indeed for a Mr Moses Soper and Hannah Farmer, but is in Westminster London. Is it possible that due to a marriage ban, (which apparently it was) that Moses and Hannah travelled 50 miles from Berkshire to London just to get married?
Was this something that happened often?
