I am researching my husband's family line and I've hit a bit of a brick wall!
Joseph James Walpole - born London 1831 - who married Catherine Collum in Maitland in 1855, is my husband's Great Great Grandfather. We have in our possession the death Certs for both Joseph James and Catherine Collum. Joseph Jame's cert states that his father was John Walpole and his mother was Charlotte, surname unknown.
What we'd really like get our hands on:
1) English Birth cert for Joseph James Walpole - born 1831. This would tell us definitively who his parents are. To date we have been unable to find out exactly who they are, as Charlotte's surname is missing from JJ's death cert.
2) Ship's records for Joseph Jame's arrival in Australia. His death cert says that he was in Australasia for 51years - 7 years in Queensland and 44 years in NSW. This would mean that he was about 15 when he arrived in Australia in 1846.
3) Perhaps there may be a Parish marriage record that would have itemised the parents of Joseph James and Catherine?
If anyone can throw further light on the parents of Joseph James Walpole, that would be awesome!
Kind regards,
Lia
