I have entered requests before on Ole (Ola) Olson father of Syver Lofthus, my Grandfather, but I have more information now and hope I will get a better response. So far I have heard nothing. My information indicates Ola was born February 14th, 1802 near north of Al. He always stated he was from Hallingdal

We have found a Lofthus farm home above Al on the Vassfjorden. Old records show the Lofthus farm as no. 79. It is still called Lofthus. Ola, wife Kristi, and his family left Norway 1858 with Syver and brother Lars and three other children. We would like to find out if there are any relatives still in Norway and whether more information is available regarding the parents and other relatives of Ola Olson or Kristi Syversdtr Skarsgard. Is a Skarsgard farm still in existence? I have not been able to locate such a farm in that area. It has probably been changed to some other name. Is it possible to get the new name? Was
this area covered by the Al Parish? Are there any branches of the family still in Norway?

Ola's wife name was Kristi Syversdtr Skarsgard. Ola (not the father) came to America in 1958 with his wife Kristi and five of their children. Ola's father's name was Ola viggerson Oleivsgard and his mother's name was Helge Knutsdatter Gurigard. No other information is available on them. Ola's (Ole) birth 1902 seems to be registered in the Al Parish records although I have not been able to locate them. Ola's father and mother did not accompany them to America. Ola Olson could have had other brother's and sisters still in Norway.
