My Gt.Grandfather James Payne Davies was born in Parkgate Rotherham abt.1852.This was worked out from his death aged 92 in Warrington.His father was William Davies (Davis).I have searched all the early census before his marriage but the family moved to Salford then Warrington.I suspect the family may have used the name Payne/Pain .I also think they may have moved up from Dudley with the iron trade but have no proof.Ifound a William and Gheeney Davies in Dudley who seem to appear in Rotherham under the name Pain with a son James (wrong date) I have been in touch with the record office but because Davies is a popular name they can't help.Also I have searched the BMD.I cannot get to Rotherham and would like any info.on a good researcher from that area who I can pay to research.If any one can help it would be appreciated
