Researching my g-g-grandfather, Alexander McDougall, born about 1861 in Springfield, Antigonish. He was killed in a mining accident in Bridgeville when he was about 37, leaving behind his wife, Flora (McDonald) and 3 children: Catherine (Cassie), Alexander Jr., and Mary.
I believe I have found an entry in the online transcripts from The Casket on his death. A Mr. McDougall, 37, was killed on Aug. 5, 1899 in Bridgeville. He was born in Springfield, N.S., son of Hugh. The notations said he left behind 3 children and there is a story accompanying it.
It all seems to fit that this is my gg-grandfather. I wondered if anybody had access to the story in The Casket relating to this.
His son, Alexander Jr., was my g-grandfather. He married Margaret Lawlor from Guysborough. His daughter, Catherine, married a Mr. Rawlings while his daughter, Mary, married a Mr. Worth.
From census information, I believe that Alexander Sr. was the son of Hugh McDougall and Catherine.
