Margaret Ann “Peggy” Ward Gump, 47, I have obit.


Mrs. Margaret Cumberledge Gump, aged 77, of Brave, died at the home of her son, Albert Gump, also of Brave, on Wednesday morning, June 25, 1930, at 11:30 o'clock. Mrs. Gump's death was the culmination of a prolonged illness of two years and was due to complications. She was born in Pennsylvania, the daughter of David and Sarah Wiley Cumberledge, deceased, and was the last of a family of ten children. Besides her husband, Perry Gump, she leaves nine children: Mrs. Minnie Togue, of Fairview, W. Va.; Gunner Gump, of Fairmont, W. Va.; Mrs. Kate Cross, of Wana, W. Va.; Richard Gump, of Massachusetts; Mrs. Blanche Phillips, of Blacksville, and Albert Gump, Mrs. Bessie Kelly, Mack Gump, and Rev. W. S. Gump, all of Brave. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Episcopal church in Brave on Friday afternoon, June 27, at 1 o'clock, with Rev. P. K. Lambert officiating.
“Notes from submitter” Margaret Cumberledge's father was actually Daniel Cumberledge, not David as was listed in her obituary. Also, Margaret's daughter Minnie was married to a Pogue and not a Togue.



Margaret Mae Wise Gump, 76, of Dilliner, died Friday, March 7, 2003, in her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born January 4, 1927, a daughter of William and Eva Curlin Wise.
Surviving are nine children, Elsie Conard of Nemacolin, Fred Gump of Mt. Morris, Lavonne Gump of Dilliner, Herb Gump of Cassville, W.Va., Donna (Dee) McKahan of Dilliner, Wilma Juracko of Mt. Morris, Oscar Gump of Washington, Kimberly Stiles of Lock Haven and Mark Gump of Dilliner; five brothers, William "Shortie" Wise of Palm Bay, Fla., Harry Wise of Mt. Morris, Frank Wise of Kentucky, Albert Wise of Waynesburg and William (Willie) Wise of Mt. Morris.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four children; and a grandchild.

Mary E. Stiles Gump, 78, of Glen Dale, W. Va., formerly of Brave, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1970, in the Greene Co. Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 16/18, 1891, in Wana, W. Va. to the late Minor and Sarah Cumberledge Stiles. Her husband, the late Thomas “Tice” Gump, died Nov, 2, 1966.
Surviving is a daughter, Rex “Pansey” McGlumphy, of Glen Dale, W. Va.; five grandchildren;11 great grandchildren and a sister , Mrs. Jesse “Lizzie” Burnfield, of Brave.
A daughter, two brothers and a sister are deceased. She was a member of the Bethel Community Church.

Gump- Friends of Mary E. Gump, of Glen Dale, W. Va. formerly of Brave, who died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 1970, are being received after 7 PM Thursday in the Owen Funeral Home, Blacksville, W. Va. where services will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday with Rev. Albert Merz officiating. Burial in Bethel Cemetery.

Melvin “Buster” Gump, 58, of Pine Bank RD 2, died at 6:50 AM Friday, August 28, 1964 at Greene County Memorial Hospital after a heart attack.
He was born October 14, 1905 at Jackson Township to Mrs. Jane Gump Morris of Holbrook who survives. He was a cook by trade and a veteran of World War II.
Surviving besides his mother are; two uncles, Joe and Doss Gump who he resided with in Pine Bank RD 2; one aunt, Mrs. Berth Lapping of Waynesburg; two half-brothers, Howard Morris of Holbrook and Lee Morris of Amarillo, Tex. and six half-sisters, Mrs. Richard “Dorothy” Eddy of Holbrook, Mrs. Norval “Helen” Eddy of Canonsburg, Mrs. Charles “Catherine” Kughn of Beaver, Mrs. Martha Funk and Mrs. Louise Wade, both of Waynesburg, and Mrs. Russell “Norman Jen” Scott of Steubenville, Ohio.

Mrs. Myrtle Gump, widow of Samuel Jefferson Gump, who died May 1, died
Saturday afternoon in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Warren, Oh. at the age of
67.
A daughter of the late James and Mary Bennett Crawford, she was born in
Tyler County. Her first husband was the late Sanford Minger. At the time
of her death, Mrs. Gump had been residing for the past five weeks in Warren,
with a daughter, Mrs. John Butler. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Butler, and Mrs. Rita Bartrug of Jacksonburg;
a son Cecil Minger of Jacksonburg; a step-son Edward Gump of Youngstown,
Oh.; five step-daughters. Mrs. Lula Minger, Mrs. Lucy Rice and Wilma Jean
Lancaster, all of New Martinsville, Mrs. Nellie Sine
of Blacksville and Mrs. Bessie Moore of Metz; a sister Mrs. Laura Midcap
of Beech Bottom; a brother, James Crawford of Norristown, Pa.; three grandchildren
and 21 step grand-children.


Mrs. Nelle Warrick Gump, 64, of New Freeport, died at 3:45 PM Saturday, May 2, 1964, in her home after a long illness.
She was born June 17, 1899, in Springhill Township, a daughter of the late William and Emma Strait Warrick.
All of her life had been spent in the New Freeport community.
She was a member of the New Freeport Church of Christ.
On Oct. 16, 1919, she was united in marriage with Bern Gump, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mary, wife of John Carpenter, of Waynesburg, and Martha, wife of Allen Howard, of Waynesburg; one sister, Mrs. Glibert “Ruth” Cumpston, of Hundred, W. Va.; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
One daughter, Maxine, one sister and two brothers are deceased.

BRAVE - Oadle N. Gump, 88, of Brave, died at 11:00 AM Monday, January 31,
1983 in the Louis Johnson Medical Center, Clarksburg, WVa. after a lingering
illness.
Born Nov. 1, 1894 in Cassville, W Va., he was the son of the late Hiram
and Rebecca Kimble Gump. He is survived by his wife, Flossie Cross Gump,
whom he married May 18, 1919. He spent his early life in West Virginia
and resided in Greene County the past 50 years. For his entire life he
worked in the oil and gas fields, principally for Freeland Oil and Gas
Co. He was also employed as the maintenance engineer for the Greene County
Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1960.
He was a member of the Kent’s Chapel United Methodist Church where he was
a Sunday school superintendent and teacher, president of the 25 Club, a
member of the United Methodist Men and a lay leader. He was an honorary
member of the Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department, a Word War I US
Army veteran and a member of the James Farrell Post 330 American Legion
in Waynesburg.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two foster sons, Homer Walton Cross,
and Howard Oadle Cross, both of Bloomington, Ind.; a brother of W.H. Gump
of Waynesburg; a sister Nellie Thomas of Wadestown, W Va.; a brother-in-law,
Ernest Cross of Bridgeport, W Va. and several nieces and nephews.
A son Herchall Bernell Gump; three sisters, Della Bissett, Bessie Rice
and Lucretia Gump; and two brothers, John L. and George Gump; preceded
him in death.

1983, will be received in the Glise E., Mariner and Samuel A. Miliken Funeral
Home, 197 N. Maiden St., Waynesburg, from 7-9 PM Wednesday and from 2-4
and 7-9 PM Thursday, where services will be held at 1 PM Friday, with the
Rev. Joseph Kosarek officiating. Burial will follow in the Greene County
Memorial Park.
