I recently came across a clue about an ancestor that indicated this ancestor (William Warren House) was born in 1788 in Buteland, VT. A simple Google search turns up nothing for a Buteland or Butteland for that matter and there certainly doesn't appear to be a city with that name in any current listing of Vermont cities and towns.

Does anyone know if this is a name of a city or town that no longer exists? I'd be curious to know in what county this town (if it existed) may have been located.
