I have recently heard a "family story" that an ancestor was rewarded for a valorous deed in the revolutionary war with land near Hagerstown. His name was Mathias Stotler and we think his wife was Katie and that he had at least one son Mathias and maybe several others. The son became a blacksmith and ended up in Knox County, Ohio after having served in the war of 1812. The son apparently ran off to Pittsburgh to learn his trade. We are trying to figure out if this is just a good story or has some truth to it. Any help would be appreciated.
