My husband was born November 1952 in Manchester, NH. His birth mother's name is Theresa and she was 16 when he was born. She was living in Claremont, NH. He was adopted by his great Aunt and Uncle in Nashua, NH. He always suspected he was adopted even though they never told him for sure while he was growing up. His Dad told him before he passed away that he was adopted. His birth mother's side of the family is mostly French and Polish. He did a DNA test and it showed 25% Irish which we suspect is the birth father's side. Because of the DNA test, we were connected with second cousin who we feel is related via the birth father's side. Her ancestry is mostly Irish with little to no French or Polish. Ironically, she is also adopted but knows her birth parents names. She was born in 80's. A name that keeps coming up in my research is the surname "Leahy". The "second cousin's" mother's maiden name is Leahy and my husband resembles some people in her family. This family mostly resides in Claremont, NH area and Vermont. Most of the information I've gotten from the "second cousin" is from me trolling her FB and looking on her friend's list. She seems to have been adopted by relatives as well. I suspect her birth mother is either my husbands first cousin OR half-sibling. The "second cousin" rarely replies to my messages on here and on FB. She is rarely online. I would really like to reach out to her birth mother but not sure how. Any information on the Leahy's of NH and Vermont and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. We did request pre-adoption birth certificate from NH. The birth father's name was left off. :-(
