Mrs. Allie Elizabeth Longworth Nicholson, 100, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at her residence.

She was born to James Wesley Longworth and Udora Turner Longworth on Sept. 13, 1902, in Winston-Salem.

She married Rufus Lee Nicholson on April 11, 1925. He preceded her in death in 1994.

She was the oldest living member of New Hope United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and she will be greatly missed. Along with her parents and husband, three brothers, two sisters, and two grandchildren precede her in death.

Surviving are four daughters, Helen N. Childress, Ruby N. Easter, Peggy N. Thomas and her husband Clint, and Glenda N. Elles and her husband Dave, all of Winston-Salem; a son, Charles E. Nicholson Sr. and his wife Jewell of Kure Beach; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Edith Arrington of Winston-Salem. Also surviving are numerous other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, at Vogler and Son's Reynolda Road Chapel. Interment will follow at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. William C. Currie will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church Building Fund, 5125 Shattalon Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
