As a learning experience, I thought it would be interesting to start a thread about matches who are now missing from your ancestry.com list that you have previously been able to "view" on a chrome browser at 23&me, FTDNA or gedmatch.

This is not a thread about how many or what percentage of leafs or ones with well documented trees, but odd things because you have been able to "see" where the match was before. There may well be explanations as time goes by (I just read one that explained how on gedmatch a very long segment was shown while on FTDNA they saw a break in the segment and counted it as two smaller pieces, not the long one...each company is different and we don't know (even after reading the white papers) exactly how some lists come together, and even before the purge, many people had matches on one or another company list that wasn't on the other...each company has its own formula that it thinks is the "best".

My first entry is a match at 23&me, FTDNA and gedmatch who shows a whopping 25.7 cms on chrome 4, between 42 and 77, which is not, to my limited knowledge, a hotspot. However, our paper match shows multiple lines going back to Plymouth Colony, where intermarriages were common (not a lot of choices back then). I have been working on trying to cross this match with others, but haven't hit one yet (will work harder on him now) Now gone from my ancestry list.

My second is a related couple who matched me on FTDNA and gedmatch for a respectable 15.3 and 14.3 on chrome 6, area 155-164. Also matches my brother at FTDNA in same areas. Both gone from list here. We had a tentative common ancestor, but no triangulation yet beyond our small group. Interesting....
