I am trying to find out if my Great Grandfather was related to the footballer George Utley, who was born on 16 May 1887 in Elsecar and died 8 January 1966 in Blackpool.

I have found census documents in which George had brothers however, if my Grandfather was related to him, he would have been related to George's Dad first... James Utley. This is where I get stuck.

I can't find any census reports giving James' parents as I don't think my Grandfather would be James' Brother, but perhaps a cousin?

Any help would be appreciated.

My Grandfather was Arthur Utley, his spouse was Lily Markham. He had two children, Grace Mary and Harry Utley. As far as I know he had always lived in Barnsley.

I cannot confirm his birthday as there are two possibilities - Apr 1906 and Jun 1906 and I cannot find any records confirming either his Mother's maiden name or his Father's name to move me forward with this - help please!
