Hi,

I am trying to find information on James Cairns (my 3x great grandfather) born approx 1818 in Barony, Lanarkshire, Scotland (Glasgow). He was transported to VDL 1836 on the Lady Nugent. He married Margaret Kittelty in 1845 in Hobart and died 1883 in Hobart. The wording on his death notice in the Mercury suggests that he may have been estranged from his family in his latter years. I am specifically trying to locate the identity of his parents and siblings back in Scotland which is proving to be almost impossible given the lack of family info on his trial and transportation records.

I did have one possible identity with a George Cains and a Jean Mcnaughty but the information doesn't quite match up.
