HONORED MAN DEAD
John Appenzellar was born Oct. 5th, 1815, in Franklin Co., Penn., and died Jan. 13, 1903, aged 87 years, 3 months and 8 days. He was married to Eliza C. Chirey Jan. 21, 1836, and with his family moved to Butler Co., Ohio in the year 1847, from there to Carroll County, Ind., in 1852, where he has since resided and for many years he resided at Burlington. His wife preceded him to the better world March 23, 1893. To this union were born seven children, Eliza A. Hanna, of Webb City., Mo., George W., of Frankfort, Ind., Margaret J. Timmons, and Milton C. of Burlington, who still survive. Charley, John S. and Henry C. having passed on before. There also survive him twenty three grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren.
He was married for the second time to Catherine Early, June 21st, 1894, who still survives. He almost daily expressed himself, as ready to go, that it was well with his soul and that he longed to go to his eternal home. The funeral service was conducted at the M.E. church at Burlington, Jan 15, at one p.m. by Rev. H.M. Creath. Interment in the Burlington cemetery.
