My husband's estranged father, b. 1/21/1954, was born in Florida, Louisiana, or Georgia - we're not sure which. He was adopted as an infant by Murden "Mert" and Miriam "Mickey" ASHCROFT, a prominent pair out of Tallahassee, Leon, Florida, both now deceased. We don't have access to any of their important papers. Any help in seeking my father-in-law's birth parents or siblings would be much appreciated.

It is worth noting that Florida adoption records are strictly sealed. Only an adoptee, or child of a deceased adoptee, can seek out even non-identifying birth parent information (like health histories, such as they may be) from the State by means of a Court Order. Of course, my husband's father still being very much alive, we may not petition the court for this information. Since we cannot take the legal route, we're stuck.
