I have a copy of my grandmother's birth certificate, it was typed in 1949; she was born in Teisendorf in 1923; behind her father's name there is a very long word. I have typed it into a few different german to english translation sites, but it is either several words together or a phrase, or spelled incorrectly..I have no idea.

Anyway this is what is directly behind his name: Maschinenhausgehilfe


is this a real word/phrase??? Was it his occupation? I noticed in alot of the documents i have, behind their names they list the occupation, but I cannot figure out how to break this one down.

I also have another document; I was told was her birth certificate as well, but I'm wondering if its a Baptism record? The top reads Geburts- und Taufzeugnis; it is hand written and somewhat hard to read
