I realise Hill is a very common surname, and my Hill ancestors have very common first names as well, but I guess it's worth a shot, so here goes: Joseph Hill was born in Hampshire Co, VA in 1735. I do not know what his wife's name was, but I have names for nine children. Now, it may be that the first six children were by a different wife than the one I am descended from, since there is a substantial gap in the birth years of the children before the last three. It is possible that his second wife was a woman named Martha Gray. She was also born in VA. Sarah, the second-to-last child of Joseph, was my ancestress. She was born in VA about 1785. The family later moved to TN, where Sarah met and married her husband, Thomas Davis. One reason I think Martha may have been her mother is that both Martha and Joseph died in Sevier, TN. Can anyone back this up for me?
