My Great Aunt Winifred Crager (1891-1904) needs to be remembered as another victim of the Slocum disaster with her name added to the victims list. She was born to George C. Crager and Julia Frankinsein-Crager while on tour with Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show in Scotland. George C. was the manager of the American Indians performing on the tour. Winifred resided at 222 E. 12th Street, her death certificate number is 3375, her cause of death is listed as: June 15. 1904, East River, Submersion. Winifred's photograph is published in several of the 'Slocum Diaster' books published after the tragedy but her name is often left off the victims list. Her photograph shows her to have been a very gracious looking 13 year old child.
