Certificates, is there another (Cheaper) way to confirm family history

I am not too new to researching my family history as I have been doing so for a few years, but i am now at a point where I can no longer rely on living relatives memories or their records in the 1901 & 1911 census to varify my research.

Although I can use the Census records to make educated assumptions that the pople referenced are the correct people, the only way I can be sure that they are the correct ancestor is through each generations Birth & Marriage certificates, which confirms the parents names, and allows the research of the next generation correctly.

I have found that without this confirmation, there is a significant risk of spending significant time researching an incorrect line of ancestors. This is a bigger risk for the more common surnames in my tree (Jones being the main one).

I know you will most likely say, get the certificates to be sure, but at £10 a certificate this can be very expensive and i don't have the spare money to do this for all in my tree.

Is there any other way or maybe even another source for certificates that I may be able to use to varify my research?
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Glen.
