My mother's name was Gertrude Daimler. Her grandfather,
Fredrick Daimler, was born in Wuerttemburg about 1840.
He was the brother of the inventor of the gasoline engine.
Being catholic, he revolted against Bismark and fled to the
United States. He had three children. John,Charles, and
Charlotte. My grandfather was Charles. Fredrick was shot
and killed in a cellar in New York City.
