Pieere Parmentier came to the New World , departing (or arriving) from Amsterdam, Netherlands in April 1663 on the Dutch ship Bonte Koe "Spotted Cow" with his wife Antoinette Terrin and his ten year old son Michael Pietersen Parmentier. They arrived at Niew Amsterdam (later New York). Accompanying them was Thonnet Thomas Terrin, Antoinette's father. He is listed in the ship's register as, "Pierre Parmentie, from Pays de Vaud, and Wife and son" in "Documentary History of New York." The voyage was by contract with the West India Company to settle the new land. Pays de Vaud appears to be in Switzerland. He may have emigrated to Belgium where his son was born in 1654; given as Kortrijk, West Flanders or Cortral in various listings.

Pieere Parmentier and his family appear to be the ancesters of the Palmateer/Palmatier families that lived in Dutchess County, New York for about 200 years before pioneering in Branch County, Michigan about 1833-36.
