Dear Ann
Our family wa Quaker in 1821 when Adam Morgan ran the SIgn of the Golden Sheaf in Swedesborough, NJ. We were Quaker before that, but as you know the records for NJ are not available from 1790 to 1830 in census data. Adam Morgan married Rebecca Tomlinson in August 1817 in NJ, although she had been born in Pa. Adam Morgan born about 1798 NJ left Swedesborough, NJ by 1825 because when he appears in the census in 1850 in Philadelphia his son John was born in 1825 in PA. But his son Benjamin Rush Ellis Morgan was born 1821 or 1822 in Swedesborough according to the death certificate. The family left NJ supposedly because Adam Morgan was disowned, but it may have been his son Benjamin who was disowned about 1845 when he married Hannah Leach -- we do not know if she were Quaker. The family said the Morgans had always attended Morrestown Meeting or Gloucester Meeting which is a contradiction. But they lived in Gloucester Co. across the line from Burlington Co. where Evesham Meeting was. Records must be somewhere for this family. John and Sarah Morgan sold land in 1817 at Carpenters Landing -Gloucester Co-NJ to Nathan Thomas. The land they sold was next to Adam Morgan. John and Sarah Mogan may be his parents or his aunt and uncle. If it is his parents, Sarah may be Sarah Flaningam/Flanigan whose mother was Sarah Jennings. If John and Sarah are his aunt and uncle, then perhaps Adam Morgan is his father and our Adam is a junior. His mother was a Sarah Flanigan or Flaningham and her mother Sarah jennings.
1. Is there a record for an Adam Morgan b about 1798, wife Rebekah, mother Sarah
2. Is there a record for a John Morgan and wife sARAH
3. Is there a record of Benjamin Rush Ellis Morgan b 1821 NJ, wife hannah leach
Thank you so much
