I just saw a post on the orphaned twins and hope someone can help me with my mystery. My husband's GGrandfather was adopted. The story is that he was born in Omaha NE on 23 Nov 1889. His parents last name was possibly Franklin (not sure of the spelling). Then sometime before he turned 2 they headed for Champlain Illinois and his parents were killed by Indians. Supposedly there was a nurse or nanny with them named Maggie St. Clair and she adopted him. By the time he was 9 they moved to Florida. He shows up with Maggie and Theodore Dayman in the 1900 census in Eau Gallie, FL. as Step Son to Theodore. Also there was supposedly a sister living in Champlain IL. I'm not sure if the sister was Jesse's or maybe one of his parents. My husbands grandfather remembers his parents (which would have been Jesse and his wife) going to her funeral sometime in the 30's or 40's. His grandfather is the youngest of his siblings and the only one left. I would love to find some information for him. I have tried searching in various ways to find his birth parents, but have been unsuccessful. I'm not really sure where to go from here. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Theresa
