I wonder if any of you could tell me how to find a marriage that took place between 1840 and 1850 in or near Utica, NY. My gggrandfather and mother Joseph Ferguson and Emeline Foster Ferguson are in MI in the 1850 census with a 5 year old daughter, but it is possible that this daughter was his by a previous marriage. I am unfamiliar with NY and don't know if there is a database of early marriages or if they were even registered. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
