1949 RUTHERFORD / STEWART Reunion

James RUTHERFORD (1817-1888) and Rebecca STEWART (1822-1874) were born in Kilmacrenan, County Donegal, Ireland, and after immigrating to the USA eventually settled in Albion Township, Peel County, Ontario. They had a large family, and as that family expanded, they held large reunions. These reached their peak when 150 people attended the 4th Reunion on Sept. 7, 1949. The event was hosted by Mr. & Mrs. W.G. “Will†BEATTY, who was the President of Beatty Brothers of Fergus, Ontario at the time. Will was the eldest son of Martha RUTHERFORD who married George BEATTY, a co-founder of the firm he and his brother Matthew (married to Martha's sister Catherine) started in 1874, which was celebrating its 75th Anniversary that same year.
I have been fortunate to acquire a list of the people invited to that Reunion, and the Surnames are shown below. In addition to the descendants of James and Rebecca RUTHERFORD (who were my Great-Great-Grandparents), the list also contains descendants of Rebecca's brother, John STEWART (1835-1906) and his wife Martha LOGAN (1829-1905), plus those of Andrew STEWART, and also those of Robert NELSON married to Elizabeth HUNTER (James' niece), plus her brother Samuel.
