Does anyone have information on the Sweeney families listed in the 1850 Essex County, NY census? I believe these were really Swinyer families and I am searching for David Swinyer and who his parents were. David entered NY at approximately age 10, making his birth around 1826/27. Surely he did not enter by himself. In Westport a Francis "Swena", age 80, born Canada is listed as well as Francis "Sweeney" age 30, born Canada, and a James "Sweeny", age 23, born VT. At Wellsboro a Joseph Sweeney, age 55, b Canada. At Elizabethtown, David "Sweeney" age 23, b Canada (right age!) is listed in the family of Joseph O'Connell.
