My brick wall is my GGGrandfather, Peter Grant. He married Ellen Wright (daughter of John Wright) 1830 in Charlottenburg. On 9/29/1830 Peter bought this land from Hugh Brodie according the Abstract that I obtained from the Land Registry office in Alexandria. On the 1879 Plat map of Charlottenburg, James Wright Grant (my GGrandfather) owned this land (as confirmed by the Abstract) but also owned the East 1/2 of Lot 13, 2nd Concession, Charlottenburg. I have sent for that information from the Land Registry as well. Ellen Grant(wife of Peter) appears on the 1851 census as a widow with the following children: Ellen, Margaret, John, Catherine, Alexander, James, Duncan, Peter, and Jane. That census also says that the Grants listed are part of the original settlers and says that there is a cemetery on the land. It is possible Peter is buried there since I can't seem to find his grave. My ancestor, James Wright Grant married Adelaide Maud Summers, Daughter of David and Jane Wright. Catherine Grant (daughter of Peter) married Andrew Summers. There was a close connection to Summerstown, I think. I purchased the book "Salem United Church" by Fraser/Ross but Peter was not listed. I believe that Peter was listed in the will of Peter Grant the shoemaker (I got the probate records) as he was given a silver watch. Does anyone have any thoughts about where I should turn next?
