John GRANT, born ca 1876 in Sumter County is reported to have served in the 24th US Infantry Unit M according to the Civil War Pension files index. However, the National Archives is unable to find his file.

Are there others from the area who served in the 24th US Infantry in the late 1890s-early 1900s? I am hoping he was not the only one from the area and am curious as to what you may have learned about this unit's action during this timeframe.
