I am searching for a possible birth record or some indication of the birth family of my husband's great grandfather, Alexander (Sandy) Gibson Towers. His birth date was 16 July 1875 but we do not know his parents yet or anything other than he had a twin brother. Family lore indicates his twin brother, possibly named Albert, had a strange sleeping disease that made him appear to be dead for a period of time. Alexander, called Sandy, possibly with his family, moved at some point to Menomonie city of Dunn County, Wisconsin where he was married 14 October 1896 to Sina Burgert/Burgette. Her family line has been traced to Switzerland in the mid 1600s. Their first child was born there 18 July 1897, Roland Walter Towers. Sandy Towers worked in mines and later as a watchman. His mining
work took him and his family from Wisconsin to Minnesota (Crookston, Polk Co.) where 2 more children were born: Helen in 1899 (my husband's grandmother), and Beatrice in 1901. They moved on to Shoshone Co. Idaho where Ruby was born 1903, Mabel in 1906, Ethel in 1907, Albert in 1909
(died within a few months), Evelyn, b. 1910, Laura b. 1912 and Elsie b. 1914. later, the family moved to Oregon, first to Yamhill then to Lane County. Sandy Towers died 6 Dec. 1964 in Newburg, Yamhill Co. Oregon and is buried in Eugene, Lane Co. Oregon.
We know much family history of the later generations, but nothing of his family of origin. We would be very delighted to know if anyone in New Brunswick can aid in our search!
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
