Does anyone have access to the Winona Times for the years 1902-1906, and possibly later? I am searching for local coverage of the capture, trial, penitentiary escape and eventual pardon of Tom Brown. Brown was an African-American who killed Murray D. Williams, white, in February of 1902. I have accounts of the crime and the MS Supreme Court decisions. I would like to know more about the lower court proceedings, etc. George McLean and Patrick Luter were his attorneys. I believe this Tom Brown was my gg grand-uncle.
