I'm searching for any information on Martha Ann Seal Posegate and William Breezley and his wife Mary. I was recently given a book written by my husbands gg aunt.

The following is a passage from "When Mama Was A Girl"
Stories of Rebecca Ellen Posegate Montgomery
Remembered and Written by Ada Montgomery Pearson

Page 5
"My mother, Rebecca Ellen Postgate, was born in a log house on a 40-acre farm on or near the west bank of the Skunk River about 3 1/2 miles southwest of Cambridge, Iowa in a community then called Ballard's Grove. The date was October 7, 1865, almost 6 months to the day after the surrender of the Confederate troops at Appomatox, Court House in Virginia. Parents of Ellen as she was always called where Thomas Elwood Postgate and his wife, Martha Ann Seal Postgate. The spelling the surname Postgate was later changed to Posegate since that was how it was usually pronounced.

In the summer of early fall of 1853, Mr. and Mrs. Postgate and their baby son Johnnie, only a few months old, left the vicinity of Vincenes, Illinois traveling in covered wagons as a caravan with her mother and stepfather, Mary and William Breezley, his son John and her daughter, Ellen Arnspiker, child of Grandma Breezley’s second marriage. Grandma Breezley’s sister, Aunt Becky McDaniels and some members of her family had settled in central Iowa a year or more earlier so it was toward that area that the caravan was headed. They were near Winterset, Iowa when winter with its heavy snows and bad – if any – roads stopped them so they camped there until spring."

Pages 64-65
"When the Postgates moved to Cambridge they lived not far from Grandma Breezley, who then a widow, still lived in the family home where for years she and Grandpa Breezley had run a small town in catering to travelers from Des Moines to places northeast of Cambridge. She had now lived alone for several years after Grandpa Breezley’s death. Later before her own death, she lived for a number of years with her daughter Ellen (Mrs. John Breezley), Mama’s Aunt Ellen and Grandma Postgate’s half-sister. One of Mamas special memories was of staying all night with her Grandmother and she did this frequently."

If anyone has any information on these people it would really help!

Thank you!!
