My family always had a story about a Fulmer being on Washington's staff. I have read that there was a Cpl Joseph Fulmer that signed a pledge at Valley Forge. The problem is that the 1880 WI census states that Joseph Fulmer born 1821's father was born in France. Was the Joseph Fulmer on Washington's staff from PA or could he have been born in France went back home after the war then his children/grandchildren emmigrated here? I don't know about Washington's Joseph Fulmer. Maybe someone can enlighten me. Thank you.
