I am looking for information on my Great Grandmother Sophia Wortman(n). She was born somewhere around Walsrode 11 Nov 1864 (possibly 1862) to Heinrich Wortmann and ______Dierks. Sophia came to Henry Co., OH in 1883 and lived with the Henry Kruse family for a while working as a maid. Mrs. Kruse and Sophia were childhood friends. Sophia married Cort Heinrich Wittenberg 13 Oct 1887 in Henry Co., OH. She had a brother, Fred, who was a mail carrier in Germany. They corresponded until the 1930's. Unfortunately no letters have survived. She also had a brother, name unknown, in California, a brother Dietrich, and two sisters. She died 7 Feb 1941 in Delta, OH. At the time of death she had two brothers and one sister surviving in Germany. Does this sound familiar?
