I am descended from Levin Walker of Alexandria, VA (b.abt. 1832, d.bef. October 1865). He had brothers named Andrew and Frances, and all three of them were shoemakers. By 1854 Levin had married Virginia ____ (b.abt.1836 in SC, d.bef. Oct 1865) and they had five children:
1. Aradena, b.abt. 1854
2. Emma Catherine, b.abt. 1855
3. Isadora, b.abt. 1856, d.bef. 1866
4. Andrew Jackson, b.abt. 1858
5. Virginia Camilla (1860 - 1929)
In 1865 four of the Walker children became wards of their uncle, Andrew Jackson Walker (1825-1882) and the family settled in Charles County, MD. The youngest child, Virginia, married William Randall Clark in 1881 [my great-grandparents].
Here's what I have learned about Levin Walkers from VA:
- some lived in Accomack County
- one was a navy lieutenant in the Revoluntionary War and received a land grant in KY.
- one died in Alexandria about 1826; his will was administered by Margaret Walker.
- one is listed in the 1820 US Census for Alexandria County
I am looking for connections to this family, either before or after the period described. Any help is appreciated.
