This is what I have just (last night) uncovered on this line. I descend from John's daughter Caroline and her husband Jerome Warden. They are my 2nd Great Grandparents and John and Margareth are my 3rd Great Grandparents.
John Schroeder b: Abt. 1820 in Duchy of Gothe, Germany src: 1880 US Census
married Margareth (maiden name unknown) Schroeder b: Abt. 1830 in Hesse, Germany src: 1880 US Census
Their Children:
George Schroeder b: Abt. 1845 in Michigan src: 1860 US Census
Caroline Schroeder b: Abt. 1846 in Michigan src: 1880 US Census d: Aft. 1910 in California
married Jerome D. Warden b: Abt. 1844 in Michigan src: 1880 US Census d: Bef. 1902
Amalie Schroeder b: Abt. 1850 in Michigan src: 1860 US Census
Elizabeth Schroeder b: Abt. 1854 in Michigan src: 1860 US Census
Frederick Schroeder b: Abt. 1857 in Michigan src: 1860 US Census
Charles Schroeder b: Abt. January 1860 in Michigan src: 1860 US Census
I am interested in hearing anything that may help me to flesh out this family line. The family was enumerated in the Detroit area. Caroline moved to the San Francisco area at some point in time. Admittedly, I have much work to do in order to fill in the gaps.
If you have information regarding where precisely John may be from in the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, which I understand was small, I would be appreciative. I expect that John Schroeder is likely a very common name.
If this is your line, I am interested in connecting with cousins.
Thank you.
