The HMS Nomad was sunk during the Battle of Jutland in WWI. My great-grandfather was on the HMS Nomad when it was sunk, waited in the water for thirteen hours, then was taken as a prisoner of war in Brandenburg, Germany.
I can find pictures of nearly all of the ships of that time period, but I cannot find a picture of the HMS Nomad. Surely there must be a picture of it prior to the Battle of Jutland.
Anyone know where I could find any of these things:
(1) a picture of the HMS Nomad
(2) a list of P.O.W.s from the HMS Nomad
(3) names of any P.O.W. camps in Brandenburg, Germany [I am attaching part of a letter he wrote to his mother from the P.O.W. camp. It may have the name of the camp on it, but it is hard to read, and I do not know German. I believe the letter is dated 1 Oct 1916. This would make sense, since the HMS Nomad was sunk in Jun 1916.]
My great-grandfather: Herbert H Hurley, Jr. (probably recorded as Herbert Hurley) born 22 Nov 1895 to Herbert H Hurley and Fanny George in Worcester, England, UK.
Thanks.
