Greetings,
I was wondering if you could help me solve a puzzle in my genealogy research.
I’m looking for records (birth, marriage, death) of my Aunt Orma who has, I believe, been dead for about 50 years.
I have done a fair amount of research using the usual tools (ancestry.com, familysearch.com, etc…) but have come up empty handed.
Here is what I know about her:
Name: Orma Veda OFFEN
Birth: Approximately 1920 – probably in BC Canada (not 100% certain)
Parents: Ernest Edward OFFEN and Elsie Annie ORAM (although they married several years after Orma’s birth)
Death: Unknown (probably around 1950), location unknown, but probably BC, Alberta or Saskatchewan.
Elsie Annie died when Orma and my mother, Doris, were young children. They were fending for themselves at an early age, and Orma was reportedly a “wild child” (according to her sister, my mother) – I guess she really lived “on the edge” in terms of men, drinking, etc.
Apparently, Orma eventually married someone (name unknown) who was a “prize fighter” or boxer of some sort in Canada – probably around 1940 – 45.
Alas, I do not know what his name was (nor does my mother) or what her last name may have been at the time of her death.
I’m particularly interested to know the cause of her early death (as there are some medical issues in the family).
Did she drink herself to death? Did she have other medical issues?
Obviously, finding a marriage certificate would allow finding out what her last name may have been when she died.
To complicate matters – I understand my Grandfather, Ernest OFFEN frequently used the alias BAILEY.
All that said:
Can somebody do lookups for marriage certificates for
Orma ORAM
Orma Veda ORAM
Orma OFFEN
Orma Veda OFFEN
Orma BAILEY
Orma Veda BAILEY
In BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan for the years 1940-50?
I’d be very grateful if someone could do this for me.
Thank you,
Donna
