I'm hoping you can shed some light on the British side of the conflict. Edward was the first of my line in this country, but he came over as a British soldier/sailor. He was released from service to Canada with a land grant, rather than go back to England for release from service. i know where he was in Canada, but would like to know some more of military service and when he may have actually been in US. I have also found where he spelled his name as Aubery. His wife was Mary Carpenter, and she was paid an annual pension by Gen Phillip Schuyler to go to Quebec [around 1784] from NYS and stay there, with a marriage endowment paid in 1787.
Any light that can be shed would be appreciated.
