Buchanan Y-DNA

Classification: Query
Surnames: Buchanan
I recently had my brother, Robert, to take the Y-DNA test and the mystery continues on our Buchanan line that was in GA. The earliest I have on my line is still James H. Buchanan b. 3/31/1821 GA m. June 1844 Harris Co., GA Nancy Ellen Hardin b. 1822 Chester Co., SC.

The DNA test shows that our ancestors were Frisian people, we are the only Buchanan's in the study with the Frisian DNA. The Frisian people lived on the North Sea along the border of Germany and Holland (Netherlands). When the people started migrating north some went right while the Frisians took a left going to what is now Kent, England and to Perthshire and Sterlingshire, Scotland. The Buchanan test administrator thinks my ancestor was part of the Buchanan clan and when people started taking surnames ours took the clan name.

If anyone else gets the Y-DNA test done and also shows Frisian genes please let me know. Also some matches on the 25 marker tests came back matching to Garrison and Osborn.

Thanks,
Nelda
