Seeking info on the abovenamed. What I know: Probably born 13 Feb 1893, death certif says in Illinois, possibly Cook County (not Kenosha, WI as family thought). Died 21 Feb 1970 in Arlington, Virginia. Death certif gave parents’ names as Arnold Jay and Catherine O’Conner. Buried at National Memorial Cemetery (Jewish) in Falls Church. (No cemetery records – it was recently bought out by a bigger entity.)

He married twice, in South Africa – first Agnes Schweder (German) abt 1925 - children Edward 1927 (died in South Africa) and Pamela 1931. Then after Agnes died abt 1934, he married Winifred Reeve (English) in 1936 – children Robert 1940 and Jeanette 1942. I found second marriage record on familysearch.org but not first. Also found passenger lists on ancestry.com, 1939-1940, when he and Winnie and first two children went to England and back to South Africa.

What I wish I could find: Birth record – Cook County doesn’t list it... First marriage record... Census records – there seem to be NONE for him or his parents, in Illinois or Wisconsin or anywhere else, for 1900 or beyond!… I have absolutely NO paper trail for him before his second marriage to Winifred in 1936, until his death record. Where was he really from and who were his parents? What was his real last name, if it wasn’t Jay? Where was he from 1893 to 1936?
