I am researching McCorvey ancestors and descendents from the Monroe County, Alabama area. I am specifically interested in obtaining additional information about Nat MCCORVEY (born about 1821 in Alabama) and the woman whom I believe was his wife, Hager RANKINS (born about 1825 in Alabama). I believe that they had the following 13 children (not in birth order):

Clara, born between 1848 - 1850 in Alabama and was given to the Jeff STEPHENS family as a slave.

Rachel, born about 1850 in Alabama

Peggie, born about 1857 in Alabama

Thomas, born about 1865 in Alabama

Alex, born about 1879 in Alabama

Other siblings included Finn (may have married a Catherine TALBERT?), Hessie, Jesse, Jim, Kellie, Margaret (may have married a Jeff CATO?), Morris, and Raymond (birth dates unknown).

My primary interest in this family is with Clara, who was a concubine of Ferney METTS, and gave birth to 11 children by him.
