Rottenburg/Röthenburg

My great-grandfather Jacob Stockburger is from this town in Germany. It is spelled "Röthenburg" in his family bible and on his immigration papers. He was born about 1856, immigrated to the U.S. between 1870 and 1880, and became a U.S. citizen in 1880. His immigration papers specify "Röthenburg, Oberamt Oberndorf, Königreich Württemberg," so I've been working under the assumption that he was born in Rottenburg am Neckar, Kreis Tübingen, Baden-Württemberg, and not Röthenburg ob der Tauber, Ansbach, Bayern. I also have two photo of Stockburger relatives in Germany with photographers from Tübingen and Böblingen.

Is "Röthenburg" and alternate spelling of "Rottenburg"?
