Searching for information/contacts about the Sulter/Sultaire family who settled in the Pittsfield, Berkshire Co, area in the mid 1860's. Orginally from the Alsace-Lorraine region of France/Switz.
Researching the following lines:
Joseph Sulter born about 1808 in France. Died Abt 1914 in Otis, Mass. Wife Marie Virginia Voirin died in South Lee, Mass unknown date.
Sons:
1) Pierre Gustave Adolphe Sulter/Sultaire born 1838 in France. Died Feb 23, 1930 in Pittsfield. Married Josephine Catherine Scholtzli in Switzerland in 1865. Listed as "A. Peter Sultaire" in 1889-1893 Pittsfield Directory. Resided in Richmond, Pittsfield. Otis and South Lee, Mass. Children: Adolphe F, Augustus Xavier, Sophie Josephine, Mary Louise, Anna Eloise, John Joseph, Joseph, Frank, Katherine Adele.
2) Francois-Frederick Sulter/Sultaire, refered to as Frederick in many documents, was born Sept 1842 in Alsace Lorriane, France. Died Feb 22, 1895 in Pittsfield, Mass. Married Elise Elizabethe Philemone Duplain(e) in 1866 in either Germany or France. Family emigrated to Pittsfield area around 1887-1888. Listed in Pittsfield Directory 1889-1893. Later family moved to Torrington/Winsted, CT where wife Elise died in 1914. Children: Frederick, Josephine, Louis Bernard, Henri-Joseph, Leon Louis, and Sophie Louise.
There are many Sultaires still in the Pittsfield area that I would love to contact. I am a descendent through Francios-Frederick's son, Henri-Joseph.
