Does anyone have any information about Jackeous/Jirkeous Neal (b.c. 1786) of Tyrrell County? Family lore has that he is the father of my ggg grandmother, Sally. Sally married my ggg grandfather, John Allcock in 1844 but she is listed as Sally Cahoon rather than Neal - possibly she was a widow in 1844? Sally supposedly had a brother named John who was married to a woman named Miranda. Also, supposedly Sally and John's mother was named Vera but the 1850 census lists Jackeous/Jirkeous' wife as named Mary - possibly a 2nd wife? There was a 13 year old Abel Cahoom living with Jackeous and his wife - could this possibly be a grandson? The information comes from grandchildren of Cora Elizabeth Alcock Smith, daughter of Sally and John Alcock but I have not been able to document this.
