I am trying to locate information on my mother's half siblings she met 1 time when she was 14. What we know is this: Her father's name was Claude Richard Byrd, born in 1914 in alabama. He and my grandmother had 8 children and divorced in 1950 when my grandmother was pregnant with my mom. My mom met her father 1 time (over a 3 week period) in 1965. At the time he was married to a woman named Helen (and as far as I can tell her maiden name was Williams) and they married in 1960 in Chicago. They had 2 children-Richard who was approximately 4 at the time my mother met them in 1965 and Helen who was an infant. My mother later heard (unconfirmed) that Helen (the mother) left my grandfather with the 2 children and moved to Florida. My mother knows Helen (the mother of her half siblings) was of German descent. We know that my grandfather at some point changed his name and died around 1980 in Chicago. That is about all we know. I am having no luck looking on here (but am brand new at this) and thought someone else might have an idea, information etc. Thanks for any help. Kristy
