On Tuesday, Sept 14, 2004 we were picked up in Naples by D'Avella's Service and driven to Roseto............It was a lovely trip except for the last hour with its ruff roads and hills. Rosetans were hesitant to speak to us at first,especially in English, but we met up with some wonderful people who helped me with my search for my GreatGrandfather, Leonardo Peretti (Peretta). Our first helper was Felippi Capabianco from London who was spending the summer in Roseto. Another gentleman who went out of his way to help was Peppino Sbalang who took me to visit some Peretta's and drove us around town. Also, thanks to Pena Falcone who worked at the Municipal building who told us to try there. And finally to Pasquale Frisi who tracked Leonardo's records and answered my questions. I am very grateful to him. We were also invited to the radio station for a tour and interview by its manager, Antonio Manaco. We hope the segment is posted soon. We stayed at the Miravalle Hotel and were treated like family. We also met the owner of the Bed and Breakfast in town. She was very helpful and invited us to Toronto's Roseto Club. We met many wonderful and helpful people who's names are a blur but I will never forget. It was especially fun trying to find out who was and who wasn't a relative. I was traveling with my cousins, Annette Carrescia, Carmella Carrescia, RoseAnn DeCesare, Annette DeCesare Yatko, Barbara DeCesare and Roxanne DeCesare and of course, my husband, John. It was the trip of a lifetime and we wished we could have spent more time in Roseto. I made many friends and invited most of the town to visit "our Roseto" and stay with me. To anyone thinking of visiting Roseto, by all means do............the town embraced us. We felt at home. We only spent 24hrs there but it seemed like we were leaving good friends when it was time to go.
